Fee Structure

South African attorney firms:

It is important to note that our fees are in most cases covered by the service we provide, and therefore there is no cost to you. Please contact us to discuss this aspect in more detail. Our fees for drafting bills of costs and converting an average size file into electronic format, are charged at 11% of the fees as drafted (not as taxed) and relate to the fee component only.

By instructing us, you will find that your fee earning capacity will increase by an average of 30% in most cases – this is specifically true to non-litigious work where an attorney relies on a computer billing program which does not keep track of the “incidental costs”. Our experienced staff can draw bills which are far more accurate to the nature of an attorney’s work than any dedicated billing program may proclaim to be.

When opposing a bill of costs, we charge a nominal fee of 10% of the saving obtained and when we present a bill, we charge the formal attending taxation fee. If no taxation was entered into, we will charge R2,200.00 per hour (senior consultant) R1,500.00 per hour (consultant) R1,100.00 per hour (junior consultant) for the necessary negotiation time. Written opinions and advice will also be charged at R2,200.00 per hour (senior consultant) R1,500.00 per hour (consultant) R1,100.00 per hour (junior consultant).

We provide telephonic advice as well as advice to your Counsel and experts in the wording of their fee lists.

We also act as costs mediators and arbitrators at a rate to be negotiated according to the merits of the matter.

Payment terms are strictly 30 days - in other words on or before the 25th of the month after the month in which you received our invoice.

Discounted rates may be negotiated depending on the volume of the work and exclusive use of our services.

All pre-existing fee agreements will be honoured as always.
